Fall Job Fair

Every fall, about a week after classes begin, the Student Employment Office hosts a job fair for both undergraduate and graduate students. The fair is timed so that students may figure out their class schedule in advance of finding part-time employment. Any Harvard student is welcome to attend. Some jobs may only be available to students who qualify for the Federal Work Study Program, so be sure to check at my.harvard.edu or with your local graduate school financial aid office.

The 2020 Fall Job Fair will take place virtually on Tuesday, September 1st, from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  If you're an employer or a student and you'd like to attend, please register today: https://seo-harvard-csm.symplicity.com/events/HarvardFall2020

Virtual Job Fair Best Practices for Students

  1. Internet Explorer is no longer supported. Please use another browser
  2. When joining an employer chat, instead of downloading Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc., select the option to join the meeting online and it will be faster to join
  3. As long as you are in a queue, remain in the Virtual Career Fair so you do not miss any employer chat requests. Please do not navigate to other areas
  4. Make sure you click the “Attend” button so that you can join chats
  5. Before the fair, mark your favorite employers by clicking on the “Interested” star icon, so that they will display at the top of your list
  6. After each video chat you complete, scroll down to view the Notes field. Enter Notes after each chat, before you join the next, so that you do not forget key information.
  7. Log into your CSM account before the VCF to make sure you have the most updated resume uploaded to the VCF and that your “Chat Profile” is current

Virtual Job Fair Best Practice for Employers

  1. Internet Explorer is no longer supported. Please use another browser. A white screen/error will occur when initiating a student chat if Internet Explorer is used
  2. When entering virtual meeting links, highlight the text and click on the “Insert/edit link” icon in the HTML toolbar. Insert the link in the URL field and select Ok. You should then see the link as a hyperlink. This will create easier access and flow when students join the 1-on-1 or Group Chat meetings
  3. When finishing a chat, be sure to remove the current student before admitting the next student so that there are not two students in the virtual meeting room at the same time. You may want to lock the meeting room as well, per meeting software
  4. After entering Notes for a student, revisit your “View Chats” to move to the next student in line in the queue
  5. For employers using Zoom, be sure to clear the chat history after each student. For some meeting software such as Zoom, the chat history remains for the entire session. So you will want to clear out if you have entered student-specific info, prior to the next chat
  6. Before you leave the VCF, make sure to set your status as "Offline." This will clear your queue and end all chat activity
