  5. During the job fair, we will have staff available in a Zoom meeting to assist with questions, troubleshooting, and tech support. The zoom link will be sent via email to you after you register.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I have to insert my own video meeting link?

    • Our platform, Symplicity, does not have a live meeting tool to host 1:1 or group meetings. Therefore, you must enter a Zoom, Teams, GoToMeeting (etc.) link so that on the day of the job fair, when student's virtually line up in your "queue", they can click on the meeting link and immediately be routed into your 1:1 or group chat.

    • On your registration form, you can set the length of your 1:1 meetings. We recommend setting the meeting time to between 5-15 minutes.

  • Can I utilize breakout rooms during my group chat?

    • Yes! Since you will provide your own video meeting link, you can use format your group meeting however you choose.

  • How will I know when a student in my queue is ready to chat?

    • On the day of the fair, you will log into the job fair and set your status to "online". This will allow students to start virtually lining up in your "queue". You will see a list of student names. You will select the student at the top of the list. Symplicity will automatically shuffle the queue so that students who are available to chat (and not in another meeting room) will appear at the top of the queue.

  • Does my 1:1 chat have to take the full time that I set?

    • No. If you are finished chatting with a student before the meeting time is up, you can simply end the chat and move onto the next student in your queue.

  • What is the difference between a group chat and a 1:1 chat? Which is better?

    • A group chat will be an open video meeting, where students can drop in and out as they please. If a student lines up in your "queue" they will see the group chat hyperlink (that you provided on your registration form) and the meeting instructions. Say you want to host a group chat from 4-5 pm, and 1:1 meetings from 5-6 pm; you can provide that information in the "meeting instructions" field.

    • A 1:1 chat allows your representatives to meet with 1 student at a time. You can determine the length of these 1:1 meetings. If a student lines up in your "queue" they will see the meeting instructions, and once you select them, they will be sent your 1:1 meeting link to enter your meeting.

      • Choosing the type of meeting is based on your preference. Some employers felt that 1:1 meetings didn't allow them to see as many students since their queue was very long, and they only had 1 representative attending. Other employers felt that group meetings were less personal and they didn't get to connect as deeply with interested students.
